ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Preliminary counts showed roughly 6,600 sea turtle nests along Palm Beach’s Atlantic shoreline during the 2025 nesting season from March 1 through Oct. 31, with most nests belonging to loggerhead turtles even though some areas faced erosion from Hurricane Imelda. Loggerhead Marinelife Center recorded 20,872 nests along 9.5 miles of beach in Juno Beach, Jupiter, and Tequesta — final counts will be confirmed in January. Palm Beach Daily News
- ➤ A potential Arctic blast may bring colder air to Florida that puts iguanas at risk of falling from trees if temperatures drop below 40 degrees (their muscles slow down in the cold) since these cold-blooded reptiles lose grip on branches; green iguanas, an invasive species, recover once the weather warms up but may be injured during sudden cold snaps.
