- ➤ WPBF 25 News worked with local animal shelters to promote pet adoptions and featured a foster dog named Maura, who is calm, quiet, and ready for a forever home. The county shelter offered half-price adoption fees, and an event with Big Dog Ranch Rescue will be held Sunday from 12 to 4 at Old Square — a kid-friendly day with fun activities. WPBF
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Teachers in Palm Beach County are holding a rally this afternoon outside the district offices to demand a 5% raise as they say the current offer of a 1.5% increase plus bonus money fails to keep up with rising costs — officials are reviewing the proposal amid a $40 million shortfall while negotiations continue. - ➤ Pastor Chris Edmonds spoke at local schools during Holocaust Education Week to share how his father defied Nazi orders in World War II to save Jewish soldiers. Insight Through Education hosted his talk and will hold a fundraising gala on Dec. 10 at the Kravis Center with Patricia Heaton as guest speaker. WPTV

- ➤ Preliminary counts showed roughly 6,600 sea turtle nests along Palm Beach’s Atlantic shoreline during the 2025 nesting season from March 1 through Oct. 31, with most nests belonging to loggerhead turtles even though some areas faced erosion from Hurricane Imelda. Loggerhead Marinelife Center recorded 20,872 nests along 9.5 miles of beach in Juno Beach, Jupiter, and Tequesta — final counts will be confirmed in January. Palm Beach Daily News
- ➤ A potential Arctic blast may bring colder air to Florida that puts iguanas at risk of falling from trees if temperatures drop below 40 degrees (their muscles slow down in the cold) since these cold-blooded reptiles lose grip on branches; green iguanas, an invasive species, recover once the weather warms up but may be injured during sudden cold snaps. - ➤ Jupiter Medical Center introduced a new robotic Whipple surgery that uses small incisions—helping patients recover faster and leave the hospital in only three to four days.
