  • Big Dog Ranch Rescue has opened the $4 million Patriot Pet Lodge today in Jupiter, offering free dog boarding (for veterans and deployed soldiers).  The Palm Beach Post

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Short-spined thrips, tiny insects damaging ornamental and vegetable plants, have been found in Florida, including local gardens. Experts advise gardeners to inspect for silver scars and curled leaves and to use natural predators or horticultural oil (UF/IFAS recommends) to manage the pest.  Palm Beach Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Jupiter Town Council approved a settlement for Suni Sands that sets aside over half of the 10-acre site, with the town paying $10.5 million for preservation while developer (Charles Modica) retains part for future development. Some community members voiced concerns during the meeting.  The Palm Beach Post

HEALTH NEWS

  • Jupiter Medical Center warned that a data breach occurred on Jan. 22, 2025 after a notice was received on Jan. 14; the center said only its third-party vendor was involved and advised affected patients to protect their personal data.  610 WIOD

SPORTS NEWS

  • Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter has started selling season and single game tickets for spring training games featuring the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals. The stadium is hosting a Fan Fest from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday (with games starting Feb.21 and Feb.22).  WPBF
