- ➤ Today, residents on the Treasure Coast and in Palm Beach County can enjoy a Holiday Tree Lighting at Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca from 6 to 10 p.m. plus Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter hosts Wine Down with Wildlife at 5 p.m., West Palm Beach’s Mountain Botanical Garden runs a Tropical Lantern Festival every night until Jan 11 except on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, Port St. Lucie holds an International Fest from 3 to 9 p.m., and a family-friendly Urban Youth Impact 5K happens in downtown West Palm Beach from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. WPBF
- ➤ The Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County is promoting its annual 8 Days, 8 Ways of Giving initiative with more than a dozen ways for community members to volunteer during the holiday season. The program features in-person and at-home events—like an ocean cleanup paddle boarding session and a gift wrapping drive for children—that offer everyone a chance to give back. WPBF
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Palm Beach County teachers rallied outside school district headquarters on Wednesday to demand higher pay amid stalled negotiations and must now work with an independent mediator. The union asked for a five percent raise while the district offered a 1.8 percent increase plus a one time bonus — teachers say the proposal did not meet their needs. WPBF

- ➤ Yesterday, the sheriff’s office dedicated a stretch of Southern Boulevard as PBSO Motorman Highway to honor three deputies who died in a crash on Nov. 21, 2024 — dozens of motorcycles, patrol cars and family members joined the ceremony as a lasting tribute to their sacrifice. WPBF

- ➤ Friday night high school football Round 2 playoffs delivered decisive wins as Goleman beat Spanish River 56 to 42, Vero Beach defeated Lake Nona 56 to 14, West Boca outscored East Lake 48 to 7 and Cardinal Newman earned a 45 to 14 win while 11 teams were trimmed to four advancing contenders (West Boca, Vero Beach, Pahokee and Cardinal Newman).
