COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Riverbend Park in Jupiter will host the annual Florida Pioneer Farmstead Day on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — the event features free family fun with farm animals and an antique sawmill, while in Palm Beach County the Downtown Palm Beach Gardens Arts Festival runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Manatee Lagoon holds a free event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Lion Country Safari will debut its first lantern festival on select evenings with over 60 exhibits.  WPBF
  • Some pickleball players are staying away from the renovated Burns Road Community Center because fees have increased—many now choose to play at local courts in Jupiter and North Palm Beach.  The Palm Beach Post
  • The Project Thanksgiving drive at Palm Beach County Food Bank has raised $20,000 and collected over 2,000 meals to support agencies including the Urban League that helps families with food, housing, and job training — the 35th annual event inspires community giving as Thanksgiving nears.  CBS12 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • CareerReady rebranded from Suits for Seniors and now helps high school seniors prepare for college and careers—CEO Jervonte “Tae” Edmonds shared his vision on Friday at 3 p.m. on CBS12 News. The nonprofit served over 3,500 students with a 100 percent graduation rate, awarded more than $250,000 in scholarships, and arranged over 100 internships as it expands to 12 Title I high schools.  CBS12 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Leonid meteor shower will peak on November 16 and 17 and will dazzle observers with fast meteors from debris of comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle. Jupiter residents can expect clear skies and a dim old crescent moon — conditions that will boost the view of bright, colorful meteors.  Palm Beach Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Palm Beach County health officials issued a water quality advisory for Dubois Park in Jupiter after tests found high levels of bacteria making the water unsafe - they advise everyone to stay away from the water until new tests confirm it is safe.  WPBF

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Friday night, 19 teams played high school football in the Round 1 playoffs, with key results including Fort Pierce Central edging Palm Beach Central 28—27 and Jupiter falling 24—21 to Dr. Phillips. Jupiter Christian won its game 39—37 over NSU University School while other teams advanced, leaving nine teams remaining in the playoffs.  WPBF
