  • More than 40 chefs from island restaurants are baking apple, pecan, pumpkin, and Key lime pies for Meals on Wheels’ 11th annual Pie It Forward benefit to help feed homebound seniors; orders are accepted through November 19 with pick-ups on November 25 at sites including Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter — the event has raised over $1.5 million since 2015.  Palm Beach Daily News
  • Semper Fi Service Dogs rescues and trains dogs to help Palm Beach County veterans with PTSD, brain injuries, and military trauma, as shown in photos taken on November 6 in Royal Palm Beach.   • Today, CBS12 News crews reported live from the Palm Beach County Food Bank in Lake Worth Beach as community volunteers sorted food and monetary donations for the 35th annual Project Thanksgiving—an effort by United Way and local partner agencies to feed families in need—while small donations like $25 help provide a meal for a family of four.  CBS12 News

  • Retailers have started early Black Friday deals ahead of the official sale on November 29—Florida shoppers can enjoy discounts at local stores like Walmart, Target and Ace Hardware.   • Glazer Hall announced the launch of the Laura Sachs Family Foundation Arts in Education Series to give students access to live interactive performances that support classroom lessons (Title I schools will receive free bus rides if needed). ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach will host its second Kelly Williams and Andrew Forsyth Community BioBlitz on Nov. 16 at Midtown Beach starting at 7 a.m. Participants will explore coastal ecosystems and use citizen science apps to document species—supporting conservation and restoration efforts.  Palm Beach Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Patrick Tenbrink at Jupiter Medical Center said that advanced treatment using focal ablation now reduces side effects, which may encourage more men to get screened for prostate cancer, the second leading cause of cancer death in men. The American Cancer Society estimates 314,000 new cases and 38,000 deaths by year-end and advises screenings to start at age 50 (Black men face a 67% higher risk).  WPBF
