COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jupiter Light Lodge will host its second annual Masonic Car Show and BBQ Fest tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 600 South Loxahatchee Drive—classic cars and a $10 entry for parking and show will help fund local programs including after-prom events at Jupiter High School.  CBS12 News
  • CROS Ministries is providing food help at its Jupiter site and other locations as part of the 35th Annual Project Thanksgiving Campaign to ensure every family gets a warm meal this fall. Volunteers serve at a mobile pantry every Wednesday at Victory City Church — and the ministry is facing a 10% funding drop as food insecurity rises.  CBS12 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Loggerhead Marinelife Center said this season ranks among its top three with 20,872 sea turtle nests recorded along a 9.5-mile stretch from the Northern Palm Beach County line to John D. MacArthur Beach State Park—showing counts of 8,363 green turtle, 12,247 loggerhead, and 262 leatherback nests during nesting season from March 1 to Oct. 31. The center has also helped release over 90 turtles back to the sea.  WPBF

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Sen. Lori Berman—representing Boynton Beach—backed the PEACE plan that will add three mental health services teams in Palm Beach County, increasing the current two teams. This action aims to expand care access for area residents.  The Palm Beach Post
  • Governor DeSantis held a press conference Thursday morning at the Everglades Agricultural Area Reservoir Project site in Palm Beach County—joined by Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Alexis Lambert. The project plans to build a 240,000-acre-foot reservoir and a 6,500-acre-foot storm water treatment area south of Lake Okeechobee to prevent harmful discharges and improve water flow and quality.  WPTV
  • Travelers in Florida face longer delays and fewer flights as the FAA will cut air traffic by 10% at 40 major airports due to the government shutdown, affecting hubs such as Miami International and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood. The reductions will begin today and may also impact Palm Beach International—through connecting flights.  CBS12 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Pooja Patel, director of the epilepsy monitoring unit for Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care, visited our studio to discuss National Epilepsy Awareness Month and explained that epilepsy is diagnosed after two unprovoked seizures, urging patients to seek help right after a seizure. She detailed how early treatment with newer medications, minimally invasive procedures, and neurostimulation devices can improve patient care & reduce the burden on families.  WPBF

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • South Florida leaders say New Yorkers may move south after NYC elected Zohran Mamdani as mayor — a trend that follows a significant migration seen during the pandemic. Realtor Patrick Lafferty and Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer reported increased inbound calls from residents and businesses seeking lower taxes and warmer weather — with the full impact expected to unfold over time.  WPBF

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Florida High School Athletic Association released the playoff brackets listing 19 local teams — including teams from Jupiter. The playoffs will kick off Friday, Nov. 14 with 16 games scheduled — promising exciting matchups for fans.  WPBF
