- ➤ The Palm Beach Fellowship of Christians and Jews will host Fellowship Friday on Nov. 28 with a breakfast at 9 a.m. at Royal Poinciana Chapel at 60 Cocoanut Row and volunteer projects including a beach clean-up and holiday craft making. Participants must register by Nov. 21 — a OneBlood bus will also be on-site from 8 a.m. to noon for blood donations while volunteers receive a T-shirt, water bottle and sunglasses. - ➤ Florida school districts decide on school closures for Veterans Day on Nov. 11; most districts will close, so students in those areas will have the day off while others will attend classes. Government offices and post offices are closed for the holiday, and schools in some counties remain open despite the federal holiday. Palm Beach Daily News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach said sea turtles laid 20,872 nests along a 9.5-mile stretch of northern Palm Beach County beaches this season, including over 12,000 Loggerhead nests, 8,300 Green turtle nests and 262 Leatherback nests. The center noted the total exceeded last year's count of 15,000 nests by October and is treating nine turtles—while one known as Swim Shady was returned to the ocean this week. 610 WIOD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Palm Beach Police Department will soon roll out five new Ford Explorer Police Interceptors with a silver, blue and black design that saves $3,000 per vehicle by using a durable standard silver paint that withstands sun and salt air. Future vehicles and motorcycles will use this new scheme as older models are retired and hybrid purchases are stopped to reduce repair delays. Palm Beach Daily News
