- ➤ South Florida is experiencing partly cloudy and dry conditions today as a cold front clears, with gusts expected to reach 25-30 mph tomorrow and the weekend remaining sunny—while Tropical Storm Melissa, 240 miles south of Jamaica with 50 mph winds, is forecast to intensify into a hurricane over the weekend as it meanders in the Caribbean. - ➤ Tropical Storm Melissa is expected to rapidly intensify into a Category 4 hurricane by early next week—forecasters say its track is uncertain and Florida could see only a low chance of indirect impacts such as rip currents around Oct 29-31. The National Hurricane Center is also monitoring two tropical waves in the Atlantic—adding to the season’s unpredictable weather concerns. Palm Beach Daily News
- ➤ Tropical Storm Melissa is forecast to strengthen into a Category 4 hurricane by Tuesday, Oct. 28 (with winds up to 130 mph) though current models show a low chance of a direct hit on Florida.
