  • After a tornado destroyed its ranch in Martin County, Furry Friends moved operations into a space offered by the Rooney Family at Palm Beach Kennel Club—converting the area into an intake center where animals are checked before moving to the Jupiter location for adoption.  WPTV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • One year after a Milton-spawned tornado destroyed homes, cars and a shopping center in Palm Beach County, recovery is underway—residents are slowly rebuilding.  The Palm Beach Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hundreds of students, teachers, and community volunteers joined the annual 'A Day in the Life of the Indian River Lagoon' event—testing water quality at Indian Riverside Park and 39 other estuary sites to learn about local water issues. Organized by ORCA, the event helped participants understand the importance of protecting the lagoon for future generations.  WPTV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Ocean Rescue officials report that high tides and offshore storms are causing dangerous beach conditions — including strong rip currents and heavy shore break—with Jupiter town leaders closing four beach access points today due to erosion and needed repairs.  WPBF

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Florida law bans anyone under 18 from riding in a truck's open bed and riding on any vehicle parts not designed for passengers—exemptions allow restrained minors in modified trucks, during parades, emergencies, or in agricultural areas, with fines ranging from $30 to $60 for violations.  Palm Beach Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Florida health officials lifted the no-swim advisory for Midtown Beach on (Oct. 9) after a water sample taken on (Oct. 8) showed that enterococci levels dropped to a safe range.
