COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jewish leaders and allies gathered in Palm Beach County yesterday to mark the two-year anniversary of the October 7 attacks in Israel that killed over 1,200 people and resulted in 48 hostages, while the community’s support raised millions for mental health and frontline care. Michael Hoffman noted the group sent delegations to Israel and remains hopeful that ongoing peace talks in Egypt will soon lead to the release of the remaining hostages — a step toward healing.  WPBF

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Off the Hook Yachts is expanding in Jupiter as it plans to go public this fall and will open a second office on Alternate A1A in January 2026—The company buys used boats for cash, fixes them and sells them online like CarMax.  The Palm Beach Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County combats record low reading scores by launching early intervention programs that offer one-on-one tutoring and book distributions in 42 elementary schools. The group trains local volunteers to ensure children master essential reading skills by the end of third grade.  CBS12 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Jupiter candidate Emily Gregory filed a lawsuit Tuesday to require Gov. DeSantis to call a special election for Florida House District 87. The suit argues that the seat has been vacant since former Rep. Mike Caruso resigned in August—leaving 114,648 voters without a voice amid rising property insurance and living expenses.  WPTV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Midtown Beach is under a no-swim advisory after an October 6 test measured 74 parts enterococci per 100 mL, more than double the safe level. Officials will retest the water today—if levels drop to normal, the advisory will end.  Palm Beach Daily News
