  • Florida workers will see a $1 raise as the minimum wage increases from $13 to $14 an hour on Sept.30, with tipped employees moving from $9.98 to $10.98 and plans to reach $15 by 2026 per a voter-approved amendment—this change is expected to boost worker pay across the state.  Palm Beach Daily News

  • Tropical Storm Gabrielle is forecast to strengthen into a Category 2 hurricane by Sept. 21—its center will pass east of Bermuda while Florida may face indirect impacts like rough surf and dangerous rip currents later next week.  Palm Beach Daily News

  • Dr. Theodore Gerson, a 105-year-old physician who helped deliver more than 7,000 babies since the 1950s, celebrated his milestone birthday today as his family decorated his front yard. He said he rises each day because he believes that daylight through the window brings hope—words that capture a lifetime of caring for many families.  WPTV
  • The CDC advisory panel voted on Friday to drop its universal COVID vaccine recommendation and remove the doctor’s note requirement, leaving it to insurers to decide on coverage. Dr. Michael Haller warned that this change might lead to lower vaccine access, and CVS in Florida will soon offer online and walk-in appointments—adding to concerns during the ongoing COVID wave.  WPTV
