- ➤ A study by Florida Atlantic University, University of Florida, and Florida Polytechnic University found that only 16% of recyclable materials are recovered statewide, while Palm Beach County’s dual-stream system reached a 90% rate and generated $14.7 million from 3.4 million tons recycled. Counties along the Treasure Coast reported recovery rates as low as 4% due to contamination challenges—leaving Florida to face growing landfill issues without a new statewide recycling plan.
