- ➤ The Palm Beach International Boat Show is offering nonprofits up to $25,000 for marine education and conservation projects in Palm Beach County. Organizations must apply by Oct 17 — applications are reviewed to support community projects. WPBF
- ➤ Yesterday, the Palm Beach County Food Bank partnered with the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts to pack over 200,000 pasta meals for families in need as 1,000 volunteers worked shifts between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The meals—packed in 1-pound bags to feed a family of six and delivered through 190 community partners—were part of its second Pack to Give Back event, and every dollar donated will be matched up to $200,000. - ➤ Jupiter High School's marching band has been invited to perform in the London New Year's Day Parade in 2027—representatives from England delivered the official invitation, and the band is buzzing with pride as it begins preparing for the event. WPBF

- ➤ Weather experts say a tropical depression is likely to form in the central Atlantic and may develop into Tropical Storm Gabrielle in the next day or two. Forecast models predict the storm will turn north to spare Florida — but local beaches may face rough surf later. The Palm Beach Post
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Brightline is partnering with local agencies including the Riviera Beach Police Department to improve rail crossing safety in Palm Beach County after 14 related deaths occurred last year. The initiative, part of National See Tracks—Think Train Week, uses blue signs to guide public action and prevent future collisions. WPBF
- ➤ Pregnant and postpartum women in Florida can now use state-issued red placards to park in disabled spots; the law, signed this summer by Gov. Ron DeSantis and Rep. Fiona McFarland, allows the temporary card—valid for up to one year—to ease long walks in hot conditions. CBS12 News

- ➤ Tickets are on sale for the James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational scheduled for March 2nd to 8th, which will feature NFL legends and PGA Tour champions. Executive Director Ken Kennerly announced that the event will kick off with a record $630,000 donation to local charities—Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation, Habitat for Humanity and The First Tee—to support the community.
