BUSINESS NEWS

  • Palm Beach County professionals have taken on new board roles and executive positions—ranging from a firefighter councilman joining Jack the Bike Man’s board to new members for the Women’s Red Apple Foundation, a new CEO for Palm Beach State College Foundation, an ocular disease specialist at See Vision Eye Institute, an attorney leading Jewish Lawyers Association outreach, and a reappointed local CEO for LeadingAge Southeast. The Community Foundation also named new vice chairs for its philanthropic advisory council, further strengthening local partnerships.  The Palm Beach Post

CULTURE NEWS

  • Marcus Bridgewater—known as Garden Marcus—will bring his children's book See Marcus Grow to Palm Beach County on Sept. 17 as part of the Literacy Coalition’s Read for the Record campaign and will lead hands-on gardening activities with local officials and students.  Palm Beach Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Palm Beach Town Council said it will vote to join a lawsuit challenging a law that limits zoning changes—Town Attorney Joanne O’Connor said the resolution will be discussed at the Sept. 18 meeting as part of a statewide effort that already includes local governments like Jupiter to protect municipal planning.  Palm Beach Daily News
  • Northern Palm Beach County officials kept property tax rates unchanged while rising property values mean higher tax bills next fiscal year. Jupiter’s new budget jumps to $189 million and will add 96 fire department staff with a final vote scheduled for Sept 18—Jupiter Inlet Colony will hold its vote today.  The Palm Beach Post

  • Today, WPBF 25 hosted local doctors and a prostate cancer survivor who explained that early screening and treatments at Jupiter Medical Center help manage risks for men. The discussion showed that tools like the nano knife and ongoing PSA testing can make a difference—especially for those with a family history—of this common cancer.  WPBF
