  • A SEC filing revealed that Slide Insurance CEO Bruce Lucas and his wife earned a combined $50 million in 2023-24 while homeowners in Jupiter Farms saw their insurance premiums climb from about $3,800 to $26,047—prompting outrage over what many called highway robbery. The filing also showed that Slide Insurance grew to become the sixth largest insurer in the state by absorbing policies from other companies and Citizens Insurance, leading some customers to switch to lower-cost options.  CBS12 News

  • On Sept. 11, flags were flown at half-staff in Florida to honor Patriot Day in memory of nearly 3,000 victims of the terrorist attacks—Gov. Ron DeSantis issued a proclamation ordering state flags to be lowered from midnight to midnight and a moment of silence was observed at 8:46 a.m.  Palm Beach Daily News
