Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 28th of August.
Good morning, Jupiter.
🏘️ Community
WPBF 25 News is partnering with local animal shelters on the Treasure Coast and in Palm Beach County to help more pets get adopted.
The report highlights Miss Leila Jane—a blind seven-year-old Lhasa Apso mix who needs a calm home.
🏛️ Government
County officials in Palm Beach questioned Florida DOGE chief Blaise Ingoglia’s claim of eye-popping waste during an Aug.
26 meeting and asked him to show clear examples in his upcoming report. They suspect the short audit may be used to push for ending property taxes and stressed that certified county staff already manage spending well.
🏥 Health
Center for Child Counseling launched a 25-foot mobile unit in June to bring trauma-informed care directly to children in Palm Beach County and remove barriers so a ZIP code does not decide a child's future.
The program was funded by an anonymous donor and several foundations — it uses a data dashboard to track mental health trends to guide future services.
📰 Lifestyle
Flavor South Florida 2025 will begin Sept 1 and run through Sept 30, featuring 101 restaurants—spanning Boca Raton to Vero Beach—that offer prix fixe menus from $25 to $70, according to CEO Kerry Pizzi.
Organizers say the event will boost restaurant revenue during a typically slow month.
