CRIME NEWS
- ➤ This week, law enforcement arrested a suspect for stealing Smokey Bear signs from state forests and charged a Palm Coast woman for posing as a licensed nurse to treat thousands of patients—deputies in Bradley handled a battery incident, Jensen Beach officials are investigating a fatal bicyclist crash involving a deputy, and Jupiter police ended a traffic stop with a drone-assisted chase that led to three arrests. - ➤ On Sunday morning, Jupiter Police pursued a suspect who stole a department cruiser during a break-in attempt — an officer shot at him as he fled and North Palm Beach Police later located the vehicle off Jasmine Drive in Lake Park where he was taken into custody. WPBF
- ➤ Jupiter police arrested an adult man after he stole a patrol car during a foot chase near Marlin Drive at 6 a.m. Sunday — he was suspected of breaking into vehicles and later found on Jasmine Drive — and he was taken into custody without injury. CBS12 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Palm Beach County built its first school, the Little Red Schoolhouse, in 1886 and later moved it to Phipps Ocean Park as a historic education site—other early schools include Lantana School from 1893, a West Palm Beach school for Black students from 1894, and Jupiter’s Octagon School from 1898 that was consolidated in 1902. - ➤ Today, on the first day of school for Palm Beach County students, teachers received essential supplies valued at $300 — $500 each from the Education Foundation’s Red Apple Supplies store to support nearly 100 Title I schools.
