  • William Shock, an EMT with American Medical Response, returned home after a two-month mission in Ukraine where he delivered food and medicine to soldiers and families affected by the conflict—he faced multiple bombardments in Kyiv. He plans to take a third trip to Ukraine in the future to continue his humanitarian work.  WPBF

CRIME NEWS

  • A phone scam is targeting Palm Beach County residents by calling from local numbers and threatening jail time for missed jury duty (the scammers pose as sheriff’s office officials to gather personal information), officials said.  CBS12 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • South Florida will see heavy rains and isolated severe storms today as a low pressure system moves slowly west from north Florida. A flood watch is in effect from Jupiter Farms to Boca until 11 p.m. — the system has a 30% chance to become tropical in the Gulf later this week and highs will reach the upper 80s amid high humidity.  WPBF

  • County officials announced that Northlake Boulevard at the Beeline Highway will close for eight days starting August 1st for a CSX railroad project — they urge residents to work from home and consider staycations with special local hotel deals to ease the traffic impact.  610 WIOD
