  • Alberta Bailey celebrated her 107th birthday on July 3 outside the Edna W. Runner Education Center in Jupiter with about 100 family and friends—she marked the day by sharing her lifelong values of prayer, hard work, and love for education while receiving recognition from local officials.  The Palm Beach Post

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival — marking its 35th Anniversary — opened its production of The Winter’s Tale in Jupiter on July 10 with performances running through the weekend and again from July 17-20 at Seabreeze Amphitheatre in Carlin Park. On Saturday night, July 12, the festival will mark Town of Jupiter Centennial Night with free t-shirts given to the first 100 visitors as gates open at 6:30 p.m.  CBS12 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Busch Wildlife Sanctuary and Loggerhead Marinelife Center teamed up to start a year-long internship for new veterinary graduates to learn how to treat both land and sea animals. The program began July 7 and gives hands-on training with tasks like sea turtle scans and building protection zones—preparing the next generation of wildlife specialists.  WPTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers in Palm Beach County will face major delays from Friday, August 1 at 8 p.m. when Northlake Boulevard at Beeline Highway closes for eight days for a railroad reconstruction project — tests indicate the detour adds nearly 57 minutes to a normal commute, with work scheduled to finish before school starts on August 11.  CBS12 News
