  • The Palm Beach County Clerk of Court is warning residents that scammers claim they missed jury duty and then ask for personal details and money via calls or texts — the court stressed it never sends such messages and advised contacting law enforcement if approached.  CBS12 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Monday, the Florida Department of Education released the annual report card showing that 71% of schools earned an A or B while districts from Palm Beach County to the Treasure Coast celebrated improvements, with St. Lucie Public Schools earning its first A-grade—an achievement also seen in strong ratings for charter schools and other districts. The results mark better overall performance statewide, with fewer schools receiving D or F grades.  WPTV

  • The Florida Department of Transportation said they will update the Palm Beach County Commission by Wednesday afternoon on an eight-day closure along the CSX tracks at Northlake Boulevard and Beeline Highway due to rail safety concerns — the closure is expected to affect about 70,000 drivers daily and may begin Friday evening to finish before schools start next month while emergency access remains available at all times.  610 WIOD
  • Palm Beach County Commissioners will hear a FDOT presentation on Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. about the planned Northlake Boulevard closure that will affect about 70,000 drivers daily as CSX repairs its railroad track—officials say detour routes and emergency response coordination will be in place during the eight-day work starting August 1.  CBS12 News
  • Palm Beach County officials have scheduled an eight-day closure of Northlake Boulevard at the CSX railroad crossing near Beeline Highway, with work now set to begin Friday at 8 p.m. as the start date moved from July 25 to a tentative August 1, and officials say the project, which will affect about 70,000 drivers and finish before schools reopen on August 11, will feature full sheriff coverage during rush hours — they advise residents to remain home if possible — while awaiting final CSX confirmation.  CBS12 News
