  • The Florida Department of Transportation approved a five-mile extension of State Road 7 between Okeechobee and Northlake Boulevards after a May 1 court ruling favored the project—some residents warn that the expansion may cause flooding and harm the Grassy Waters Preserve ecosystem.  610 WIOD
  • State lawmakers approved a budget that could give Palm Beach County over $20 million if Governor Ron DeSantis signs the bill without changes + the funds will support roads, water systems, public safety, mental health care and more for the new fiscal year beginning July 1.  610 WIOD

HEALTH NEWS

  • June is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month, and a nurse practitioner from Jupiter Medical Center discussed Alzheimer's signs and the difference between memory loss and dementia on WPBF 25 News. The center will hold free Dementia Caregiver’s Support Group sessions (Tuesday June 24 for spouses and Thursday June 26 for all caregivers) to help families get support.  WPBF
  • On Tuesday, the Center for Child Counseling unveiled a new 25-foot mental health mobile unit in Palm Beach County—its design supports group therapy and early intervention for children and families in rural areas while using real-time data to target rising mental health concerns.  CBS12 News
