  • Brightline offers a buy-one-get-one deal for trips on weekdays after 7 p.m. or weekends from Palm Beach, Broward & Miami-Dade if booked by June 13, with a 20% discount for Orlando trips using code MAY20B before May 28. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Public school students in Palm Beach County (including Jupiter) and Monroe County will finish classes this Friday, May 29, while other districts in the region wrap up the school year in early June.  Palm Beach Daily News
  • Florida law (which sets Aug. 10 as the earliest start) mandates that 39 counties begin classes on that day while a few counties will open on Aug. 13 as summer break ends on varying dates. Parents should verify local school calendars for their specific start dates.  Palm Beach Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Although early forecasts suggest fewer storms thanks to El Niño, NHC (National Hurricane Center) warns that one hurricane under the right conditions can cause major damage.   • A federal judge paused recreational red snapper fishing in federal waters off Florida's east coast on May 21, 2026, prompting the FWC to vow to contest the ruling while allowing fishing in state waters up to three miles offshore + the Gulf Coast's season remains open until July 31.  Palm Beach Daily News
