- ➤ Palm Beach County leaders are reviewing a $4.46 billion budget proposal today that keeps property tax rates steady despite a $71 million increase in revenue from rising property values. The plan includes a 6% pay raise for county employees and 175 new positions (mostly in fire rescue) while cutting funding for social services and reducing county reserves, with a final vote set later this summer. - ➤ U.S. health officials warned that cucumbers from Bedner Growers in Boynton Beach were linked to a salmonella outbreak that made at least 26 people sick and hospitalized 9 between April 29 and May 19. They advised consumers to discard cucumbers unless the source is known until the outbreak is resolved—symptoms include stomach pain, diarrhea, fever, and dehydration. WPTV
