- ➤ Michele Nichols, 63, a former financial controller at Fitzhugh Holdings in Jupiter, was sentenced to six years in prison after she embezzled nearly $1 million by diverting payroll funds—authorities said discrepancies in expense reports sparked the investigation. CBS12 News

- ➤ Scientists said that 31 million tons of brown sargassum are floating in the Atlantic and will likely wash up on Florida beaches this summer, releasing gases as the seaweed decays+ possibly causing skin and breathing irritation.
