- ➤ Bill and Eileen Henthorne, a retired Palm Beach couple who volunteered for over a decade at Cancer Alliance of Help and Hope, were honored as Community Champions and received a check from Guardians Credit Union — donated to help patients and, as cancer survivors, will celebrate milestone birthdays this year. - ➤ Florida letter carriers will pick up non-perishable food donations on Saturday, May 9 to support local food pantries that help families facing hunger (Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive). Residents can leave a bag by their mailbox for an easy, at-home contribution. Palm Beach Daily News

- ➤ Hurricane season starts in one month with storms expected from June 1 to Nov. 30, and local officials urge Jupiter residents to review evacuation zones and stock emergency kits (water, food, batteries, etc.). - ➤ Social Security payments in May will be issued on Wednesdays based on birthdays: 1st-10th receive a check on May 13, 11th-20th on May 20, and 21st-31st on May 27; older schedule users get payments on the 3rd. Palm Beach Daily News

- ➤ The new Alan B. Miller Medical Center in Palm Beach Gardens will open on May 19 with 66 patient beds + key services like robotic surgery and heart care for north county residents. - ➤ Dr. Brian Snelling (Marcus Neuroscience Institute at Baptist Health Brain and Spine Care) explained stroke signs using FAST: Balance, Eyes, Face, Arms, Speech, and Time while noting a stroke occurs every 40 seconds and is the fifth-leading cause of death.
