- ➤ A large portion of Palm Beach County from West Palm Beach to Boca Raton is in an extreme drought, with West Palm Beach recording its 5th driest April when only 0.21 inches of rain fell and January through today seeing just 4.58 inches instead of the normal 13.09 inches — officials warn that the low totals highlight a severe water shortage. - ➤ May is Ocular Melanoma Awareness Month and a 5K run walk will take place at Riverbend Park Saturday with registration at 7:00 a.m. and the run beginning at 8:00 a.m. — the event will raise funds and educate the public on ocular melanoma, a rare eye cancer that affects about 2,500 people each year and can spread to the liver if not detected early.
