  • Local businessman Nick Mastroianni auctioned his prized 2019 Corvette at Barrett-Jackson at the South Florida Fairgrounds last weekend and will donate the $110,000 raised to Hannah's Home in Tequesta, which helps homeless single pregnant women gain independence. Mastroianni said his donation supports the group's efforts (including education and job training) to help these women overcome hardship.  WPTV

CRIME NEWS

  • Virginia Phipps, the owner of a local health and wellness business, was accused of stealing $1,033 from Transformations Esthetics on March 4—authorities said the five unauthorized transactions were linked to payments to unrelated entities, and she later claimed her accounts were hacked.  CBS12 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Travis Conway, 32, directs the Edna W. Runner Education Center in Jupiter—he began managing the program in 2023 just before his aunt passed away and now works to honor her legacy.  The Palm Beach Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting May 7, a REAL ID will be needed for air travel and entry into federal facilities for adults over 18. Florida residents with a driver’s license that does not show a gold star must visit a local service center with original documents to update their ID — this change affects everyone planning to fly or access federal sites.  Palm Beach Daily News
  • Palm Tran announced it will reduce its paratransit service to within three-quarters of a mile from fixed routes starting in 2026 and will use private contractors to provide Connection Plus rides for those living outside the new zone—affecting communities including eastern Jupiter and Juno Beach. The move was approved by Palm Beach County commissioners on April 8 and aims to manage costs while maintaining access for disabled riders.  The Palm Beach Post
