BUSINESS NEWS

  • Archer Aviation is nearing FAA approval to launch electric air taxis in South Florida that will cut commute times by flying passengers between cities – approval testing is in its final stage and operations could begin in the second half of 2026.  CBS12 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Wednesday, the Palm Beach North Education Foundation awarded $162,000 in scholarships to local high school seniors. Superintendent Mike Burke presented four full-ride and two two-year awards, recognizing Danielle Day from Jupiter High as she plans to study pediatric neurology.  WPTV
  • Local students joined the 16th School Bus Drug Prevention Media Contest by the Palm Beach County Behavioral Health Coalition, creating posters and videos to prevent substance use. Top entries from Seminole Ridge High School were celebrated with an ARC Florida visit on April 15 and the contest will return.  CBS12 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Scientists report record-high sargassum levels in the Atlantic that could lead to seaweed washing ashore on Florida’s east coast this spring and summer (winds and currents will decide its buildup) and local beaches may see moderate accumulations if conditions persist.  Palm Beach Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Storm and safety leaders from Palm Beaches & Treasure Coast met today at WPBF 25’s annual Hurricane Ready Summit in Palm Beach Gardens to plan coordinated hurricane response and improve local communication. Officials reviewed measures to help both residents and evacuees during storm events.  WPBF

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Florida Department of Health issued a no-swim advisory at Dubois Park today because high bacteria levels may cause stomach illness and skin irritation, so visitors are urged to avoid the water until conditions improve.  WPBF

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Cheyenne, a 50 pound dog rescued from Georgia and this week Pet of the Week, is available for adoption at Big Dog Ranch Rescue. The ranch will host a garage sale on April 25th featuring pet supplies & home goods.  WPBF
