Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 14th of April.
Good morning, Jupiter.
🌲 Environment
Residents in Palm Beach County can legally shoot invasive iguanas on private property with permission or on one of 32 FWC managed public lands—if the animal is killed humanely by causing immediate loss of consciousness and destroying its brain.
Disposal rules vary by city—some allow double-bagged trash while others require a private pickup, and iguana meat remains legal to eat.
🏛️ Government
Florida lawmakers are studying a House bill that would require all private businesses to use the federal E-Verify system—noncompliant businesses would face a $1,000 fine each day and risk suspension of their licenses.
Senate leaders said they may consider the measure in committee as the legislative session will end on May 2.
