CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Bradley Amick, 51, allegedly struck a man with a hatchet at a BurgerFi on Indiantown Road on Tuesday at 11:10 p.m., and then dialed 911 on himself — police said the victim was found unconscious with heavy bleeding. CBS12 News
- ➤ Kate Faroni from Loxahatchee was arrested this morning along with her husband on charges of animal neglect after investigators found evidence that neglect caused the deaths of at least two dogs—she was held on a $12,000 bond. WPTV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Florida Opinion journalists received many emails from residents supporting SB 80/HB 209—bills aimed at stopping commercial development in state parks and preserving natural spaces. A Jupiter resident said his family enjoys these parks—urging lawmakers to protect outdoor areas for future generations. Palm Beach Daily News
- ➤ Florida will protect bats during their maternity season starting April 16 until August 14—property owners must obtain a permit to remove them from buildings during that period. Jupiter residents are advised to hire professionals if bats appear in their homes or sheds to keep both people and bats safe. Palm Beach Daily News

- ➤ On Wednesday, the Florida Senate passed SB 1198 which defines gift card fraud and sets penalties ranging from fines of $1,000 and up to a year in jail for a misdemeanor to fines of $5,000 and up to five years in prison for a felony (penalties depend on the illicit gain amount). If approved by both chambers and signed by Governor Ron DeSantis, the law will take effect Oct. 1. Palm Beach Daily News
