Good morning, Jupiter.

State Sen. Gayle Harrell and Rep. John Snyder filed the State Park Preservation Act to protect Florida state parks from developments like hotels, golf courses and other amenities—requiring public hearings on land-use plans and a fiscal report on park repairs, with committee hearings planned in the next six weeks.

Florida lawmakers are considering SB 1318—which would ban holding mobile devices while driving except for short actions to activate features—for use during movement; hands-free use is allowed and violators would face fines and license points.

If approved and signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis, the law will go into effect July 1.
