  • Yesterday, Red Cross Giving Day offered community members a chance to support emergency preparedness by donating funds that were matched dollar for dollar—boosting local resources for disasters like hurricanes and home fires. Tracy Mitchell, executive director of the Palm Beach Treasure Coast chapter, said the matched donations helped the Red Cross prepare to assist community members during emergencies.  WPBF
  • Furry Friends is seeking a loving home for Dewie—a 2-year-old Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix—who is shown at local studios each month to help find a new family.  WPBF

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • AccuWeather predicts the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season will bring 13—18 named storms, including 7—10 hurricanes and 3—5 major hurricanes that may rapidly intensify before landfall—above-normal water temperatures will fuel these volatile storms. The forecast warns parts of Florida and other coastal areas of potential direct impacts from these storms.  Palm Beach Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A county count held on Jan 30 and Jan 31 found 1,520 people without housing, with 914 unsheltered and 606 staying in shelters, marking a 28.5% drop from last year. Officials said new programs like a 74-bed housing center, 17 cottage homes and expanded medical care support may have helped—more data is needed to show why the numbers fell.  WPBF

  • The Palm Beach County Health Department issued a water quality advisory for DuBois Park in Jupiter after tests found high bacteria levels — officials advise people not to swim there until the water is declared safe.  WPBF

  • Bailey is a 2-year-old dog found stray near Schall Circle who loves to run and play with other dogs but shows anxiety in his kennel as he waits for a loving family.
