- ➤ On Monday evening, CFO Blaise Ingloglia hosted Florida’s annual Fire Service Awards in Tallahassee, recognizing firefighters from across the state; Town of Jupiter Fire Rescue’s Rob Ramirez was honored as the Fire Service Instructor of the Year (2024). CBS12 News
- ➤ A local man’s drive was delayed when he found a 7-foot boa constrictor in his Riviera Beach driveway on March 1; police secured the escaped pet after a neighbor threatened to shoot it (the snake weighed about 30 pounds) before he could reach his high-end work. Palm Beach Daily News

- ➤ Sea turtle nesting season began on March 1 as Loggerhead Marinelife Center recorded eight leatherback nests so far — thousands of turtles will nest on local beaches until the end of October and officials urge beachgoers to keep the sand clean, dark, and free of obstructions. WPBF
- ➤ After a record-breaking cold snap in February, state officials reported that at least 30 manatees succumbed to cold stress in parts of Florida (according to FWC records). They are reviewing if power plant warm water discharges will be enough to protect the species in future cold events. Palm Beach Daily News
