- ➤ South Florida airports experienced major flight cancellations Monday as a Northeast winter storm disrupted travel. Palm Beach International, Miami International and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International recorded hundreds of delays (over 5,800 flights nationwide were affected) as airlines adjusted schedules. - ➤ Firefighters contained a brush fire near 20 Mile Bend in Loxahatchee on Monday, Feb. 23 after dry conditions spurred rapid spread; crews used 14 units and thermal imaging to locate hotspots and complete containment in 90 minutes while a burn ban remains in effect in Palm Beach County. - ➤ Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to 11 brush fires over a 24-hour period Sunday night amid a county burn ban. Dry conditions and gusty winds increased fire risk as firefighters quickly contained the fires. WPBF

- ➤ Cold weather shelters opened Monday night across Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast in response to a freeze warning effective Tuesday morning.
