ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Loggerhead Marinelife Center reported its earliest nest on record from a leatherback sea turtle, documented yesterday along an 8.5 mi stretch of beach. Researchers placed a data logger in the nest (to track cooler temperatures that may produce more male hatchlings) as sea turtles have arrived a day earlier each year. WPBF
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Palm Beach County commissioners approved a pilot program to build four 250 sqft tiny homes for residents recovering from substance abuse using $500K from opioid settlement funds. Commissioner Sachs said the temporary, hurricane-standard homes will be placed near treatment centers and churches, with occupancy expected by year-end pending federal funding. WPBF
- ➤ A key commuter gateway near Donald Ross Road sees over 126,000 vehicles daily, showing heavy congestion on I-95 during the morning rush. FDOT Road Ranger Brian said drivers should slow down and allow extra time to keep traffic moving safely. WPTV
- ➤ Due to drought and elevated wildfire risk, Palm Beach and Martin counties join St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee in banning all recreational fires. The ban covers campfires, fire pits, and yard waste burning (until further notice). 610 WIOD

- ➤ Tampa General Hospital Cancer Center of South Florida is offering the Hereditary Cancer Prevention and Risk Program to families in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast to assess cancer risk.
