  • The second annual Bands, Burgers & Brews festival will take place at the Abacoa Amphitheater on Saturday, Jan. 10 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and offers live music, craft beer sampling, burgers and local vendors. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • FWC released preliminary 2025 statistics showing 628 manatee deaths last year, with Brevard County reporting 118 fatalities and Palm Beach County 7. Wildlife officials urge boaters to slow down (boats were blamed for nearly 100 deaths) to help protect manatees in local waters.  610 WIOD
  • A multimillion-dollar canal project is underway on Treasure Coast to stop harmful nutrient runoff from reaching local waterways. The South Florida Water Management District is diverting water from the C-23 canal in St. Lucie County to Martin County’s C-44 reservoir (a key part of a long-planned water-quality plan).  WPBF

  • New CDC guidelines from Jan. 5 let parents in Jupiter consider fewer mandatory vaccines for children if Florida follows the changes; a bill filed on Jan. 6 calls for healthcare providers to offer alternative schedules, allowing shared decision-making on shots for diseases like influenza and rotavirus (while 11 vaccines remain recommended).  Palm Beach Daily News
