CULTURE NEWS

  • The Historical Society hosted its 23rd Annual Archival Evening today, honoring Frances and Jeffrey Fisher for contributing to local history preservation as community leaders celebrated Palm Beach County heritage.  The Palm Beach Post
  • The Society of the Four Arts hosts French painter Louise Sartor today at 3 p.m. for the lecture (To Paint is Caring Enough to Stay) and she will lead a fully booked digital drawing workshop series on Jan. 7, 9, 12, and 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the same venue.  Palm Beach Daily News
  • The town celebrated its commitment to preserving historic buildings when eight architecturally diverse homes were honored in an inaugural plaque ceremony at Preservation Foundation headquarters on Peruvian Avenue last December. More than 360 landmark properties and 51 significant buildings have been protected under the program since 1979.  Palm Beach Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Martin County High School will host five social service workers and school counselors today to provide grief counseling (following a fatal two-vehicle crash Friday night that claimed a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl) by supporting each class according to the student’s schedule.  WPBF
  • The Greene School's chess program (founded in 2016 by Antonis Loudaros) now serves 76 students, nearly half of whom are girls, and offers regular strategy sessions on campus.  Palm Beach Daily News

  • A water main break closed Tequesta Drive between Norfolk Avenue and Short Avenue near Tequesta Family Church on Sunday morning. Utility crews worked on repairs — and police advised travelers to use Dover Road to bypass the closure.  WPBF

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Palm Beach County woman turned her struggle with an eating disorder into a national support network after founding The Alliance for Eating Disorders over 25 years ago. The nonprofit based in West Palm Beach now offers free support groups, clinical training and a helpline expecting over 7,000 calls this year.  CBS12 News
