About this event
A remarkable number of Chicago musicians have stepped onto the world stage: soul artists Curtis Mayfield, Sam Cooke, and Lou Rawls; blues giants Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, and Paul Butterfield; rock and roll pioneers Chuck Berry and Etta James; folksingers Bob Gibson, Steve Goodman, and John Prine; and rock superstars Chicago, Cheap Trick, and Earth, Wind & Fire. The city has also produced famous one-hit wonders, such as The Shadows of Knight, whose 1965 cover of Gloria helped define the era's garage-rock sound. Join Rod MacDonald for this entertaining look at the music, characters, and legacy of one of the most vibrant and underrated capitals of American music. This event is also available virtually.
