About this event
More information will be added later.
Join us for "Menashe," a bitterweet tragicomedic drama set in the ultra-Orthodox Hasidic Jewish community of Borough Park, Brooklyn. The title character is a kind-hearted but clumsy and hapless grocery clerk who struggles for custody of his 9-year-old son after his wife dies.
It has an impressive 95% Rotten Tomatoes rating. It premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and received positive reviews in the New York Times, Boston Globe, Toronto Star, Washingon Post, Chicago Tribrune, Jerusalem Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Village Voice, Los Angeles Times and NPR.
The trailer can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83UoZcdX__Y . We can get tickets at the door ($9 cash, $11 credit card). Afterward we can go to a nearby casual restaruant.
The Stonzek is an intimate 60-seat black box theater with an extra-large viewing screen and HD projection. It's a great place for movies and snacks are available.
